Foundation awards thousands in grants
The York Foundation for Public Education Prize Patrol presented more than $24,000 in grants to 65 teachers and three principals from the York County School Division this fall.
The grant categories offered during the fall semester were Fall Innovative Grants, Guidance Grants, Whole School Grants and Principal Professional Development Grants. Projects selected are designed to motivate, enrich and enhance student learning, either in a classroom setting or throughout the whole school. Each recipient is required to prepare a written report and provide financial accounting on their project. Applications are reviewed and awarded by the YFPE Board of Trustees.
Among the grants awarded, several were sponsored by individuals and organizations to include ITA International, Sister Cities, Walmart, Ferguson Enterprises, the ‘Star of Excellence’ endowment, the ‘Chad Green Reading for Merit in Honor of Katherine Snead’ endowment, the ‘York County Waterways Alliance’ endowment, ‘The Bunnie Wiley Go Make a Difference for Special Educators’ endowment, Wells Fargo, Nancy Core Middle School Collaboration, and the “Don’t Trip Over Your Shoelaces” endowment.
