Newport News Restaurant Week returns with breakfast

Newport News Restaurant Week will return in 2020 with a new twist: for the first time since it started in 2014, the event will feature breakfast.

Two establishments — VEDeat, a new restaurant in City Center at Oyster Point and Nest Kitchen & Taphouse at Kiln Creek Golf Club & Resort — will serve a fixed-price breakfast from a set menu for $10. As in previous years, diners will also have their choice of a two-course lunch for $10 or $15, with three-course dinner options at $20 or $30 during the two weeks of Restaurant Week, Jan. 11-25.

Restaurants participating for the first time this year include Azzurri Italian Restaurant, Donatos Pizza, JT’s Bar & Grill, Midtown Eats and VEDeat.

Newport News Restaurant Week establishments offering a three-course dinner for $30 include Bonefish Grill, Circa 1918 Kitchen & Bar, Cove Tavern, Donatos Pizza, Fin Seafood Restaurant, Harpoon Larry’s Fish House & Oyster Bar, Hayashi Sushi & Grill, JT’s Bar & Grill, Kitchen 740 (inside the Newport News Marriott at City Center), Melting Pot, Nest Kitchen & Taphouse (at Kiln Creek Golf Club & Resort), Saffron Mediterranean Cuisine, Schlesinger’s Steakhouse and Second Street Newport News.

Those offering a $20 three-course dinner are Al Fresco Italian Restaurant, Burger Theory (inside the Holiday Inn Newport News-Hampton), Crab Shack on the James, Donatos Pizza, JT’s Bar & Grill, Rick & Libby’s, Saffron Mediterranean Cuisine, Smoke BBQ Restaurant & Bar and Tucanos Brazilian Grill.

A two-course prix fixe lunch of $15 will be available at Bonefish Grill, Fin Seafood Restaurant, Harpoon Larry’s Fish House & Oyster Bar, Hayashi Sushi & Grill, Indulge Bakery and Bistro, Kitchen 740 (inside the Newport News Marriott at City Center), Nest Kitchen & Taphouse (at Kiln Creek Golf Club & Resort), Saffron Mediterranean Cuisine, Second Street Newport News and Tucanos Brazilian Grill.

For a mere $10, you can get a two-course lunch from Al Fresco Italian Restaurant, Burger Theory (inside the Holiday Inn Newport News-Hampton), Cove Tavern, Crab Shack on the James, Donatos Pizza, Hilton Tavern, JT’s Bar & Grill, Kitchen 740 (inside the Newport News Marriott at City Center), Rick & Libby’s, Saffron Mediterranean Cuisine, Sage Kitchen (at Anderson’s), Schlesinger’s Steakhouse and Smoke BBQ Restaurant & Bar.

Azzurri Italian Restaurant and Midtown Eats also plan to participate and will reveal their Restaurant Week selections soon.
