Deputies with the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office are investigating a deadly incident that is believed to be domestic in nature, according to a Facebook post from the office.

Deputies were dispatched to a shooting call in the Coventry area of York County about 6:18 p.m. Sunday, the post stated.

When deputies arrived, they found two individuals with gunshot wounds inside the home. A male was deceased, and a female was transported to Riverside Regional Hospital, where she passed away.

“This is believed to have been a domestic related incident and the public is not in danger,” the posted stated. “Deputies and Investigators are still on scene.”

Names will not be released at this time pending notification of next of kin.

“This has been devastating to this community and to our County,” the post stated. “Our thoughts and prayers are with all of those who have been affected by this tragedy.”
