COVID-19 cases jump 31 percent

The cases of COVID-19 in Virginia jumped more than 31 percent from Thursday to Friday, and hospitalizations rose almost 28 percent.

The number of people tested rose 19 percent in the same time period, to 7,337.

There are now 604 total cases in the state, with 14 deaths.

The Peninsula Health District has 82 cases, with 55 in James City County, 12 in Newport News, nine in York County, five in Williamsburg and one in Poquoson. It’s the hardest-hit health district in the state besides Fairfax.
