Statewide COVID-19 cases rise 9 percent

COVID-19 cases in Virginia took a 9-percent increase from Sunday to Monday, rising to 2,878.
There have been 497 hospitalizations and 54 deaths, according to the numbers released Monday morning by the Virginia Department of Health.
In the Peninsula Health District, there are 118 cases in James City County, 54 in Newport News, 21 in York County, 13 in Williamsburg and three in Poquoson, a total of 209.
